Selvin Alex Korattiyil was a teenager just like everyone else. He loved to hang out with his friends,
go to movies, and play basketball. He was very passionate in everything he did in life. Those that have known him can tell
you how he was always a good friend and was there whenever you needed him. As a child, Selvin had to undergo numerous surgeries
because of brain tumors. Everyone always thought he was a normal individual but only few knew what he really went through.
Selvin was diagnosed with ependymoma in high school and was told there was nothing else they would be able to do. After numerous
opinions from doctors, Selvin decided to not take any more medicine and leave his fate in God’s hands. Selvin Alex Korattiyil
died at the young age of 18 on August 23, 2008. Selvin was one of the most loved people in the Knanaya Community. His big
smile and optimistic attitude always affected everyone else around him. Selvin will always be remembered in the hearts of
everyone he knew. His strength has become an inspiration for many. We hold his memories close and remember not his death but
celebrate the life he lived.
